Creation
The Genesis chapter 1. 1-25 account
My comments in blue, Scriptures & quotes in black, references in green.
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created* the Heaven and the earth. KJV
Interestingly from the very first words the bible is true and correct to the facts; stating that the earth and universe was created means it’s also stating it had a beginning, the theory was it had always existed with the steady-state theory, Stephen Hawking’s tutor Sir Fred Hoyle who died in 2001, never accepted it! The change came in part with Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson in 1965 discovery of the leftover heat from the big bang theory explosion, the missing evidence.
Also note that the bible states it was “In the beginning” that “God created the Heaven and the earth”, there is no indication that this is part of the first day, the words ‘in the beginning’ sets it apart, so that would have been before the start of the so called first creative day, possibly millions or billions of years before as there is no indication of time. Then the first so called creative day starts in verse 2.
Length of Creative Days
Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day** KJV
The Hebrew word there for day is translated into English is ‘yom’ and has several meanings;
** Hebrew; ‘yom’; (yome); can mean 1 of 4 things; 1. a day (24 hours); 2. day time (in contrast to night). 3. an indefinite period of time; 4. an era with a certain characteristic.
The bible states at; 2 Peter 3:8 be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. KJV
Also in Gen 2.2 on the seventh day ‘yom‘ where God ‘began to rest on the seventh day from all his work that he had been doing‘, that day of rest continued through the generations of the bible times to our day, this is verified by many scriptures one is; Heb 4: 3 For only we who believe can enter his rest…. God said… even though this rest has been ready since he made the world… 6 Therefore, since it remains for some to enter into it… So this seventh day ‘yom‘ after the creative days is so far a little over 6,000 years.
We live on earth and our timetable is based on the rotation of our planet, but why do so many people limit the Almighty God who made it with the same restriction in time, he doesn’t live on it! The scriptures show that God’s measurement of time is greater than ours and that God’s seventh day continues today. So as the word ‘yom’ has a translation one of which is “an indefinite period of time” logic should tell us to use it. The golden rule in scripture is; 1 Cor 4:6 not to go beyond what is written in Scripture. God’s Word
So the first day could be millions, tens or hundreds of millions of years long or more (the word ‘yom‘ doesn’t put a limit on it) and then we have 5 more creative days, which could be millions and so on years long and there is nothing to say they are all of equal length.
Then there is Gen 2:4 where it shows the flexibility of the word ‘yom‘ or day by lumping them into one as ‘an era’ stating; ‘in the day** that the Lord God made* the earth and the heavens’
The word create
At Gen 1.1 the original Hebrew word is ‘bara‘, its 1st meaning would apply ‘to create from nothing‘, then at Gen 2.4 its second meaning would apply ‘to reform from existing materials‘ and the heavens here are not the universe but the atmosphere or the expanse at; Gen 1:7 And God maketh* the expanse, and it separateth between the waters which [are] under the expanse, and the waters which [are] above the expanse: and it is so. 8 And God calleth to the expanse ‘Heavens;’ Young’s Literal Translation
But then we have Exodus 20:11 ‘For in six days** LORD made*** the heavens and the earth, the sea’ Here it’s talking about the heavens (the expanse), earth and sea that were ‘reform from existing materials‘, the Hebrew word for ‘made’ here is ‘asah‘ but the meaning is similar; wrought; fashioned.
* Hebrew; ‘bara’ (baw-raw’); to create from nothing or to reform from existing materials
*** Hebrew; ‘asah’ (aw-saw’); 1; to do, labour, bring forth, fulfil (wrought) 2; make; prepared
The waters below the expanse are clearly the sea(s), but the waters above the expanse are not clouds, as the clouds are in the expanse in the troposphere the lowest part of the earth’s atmosphere, so what are the waters above the expanse? Continued in Day Two.
So by looking into the Genesis account with the use of its original Hebrew and scriptures showing a comparison of Almighty Gods view of time to man’s; shows a clearer understanding is found. It doesn’t say the universe, earth and all life on it is a little more than 6,000 years old, but with the proper use of the Hebrew it is possible the universe and the earth could be millions or billions of years old, but it does say that about man, who is said to be a little more than 6,000 years old! To be continued…
Creation
The order of the creation
The beginning; Gen 1: 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was created so it once did not exist, Isa 40: 26 “Lift up your eyes to heaven and see. Who has created these things? [God was able this] Because of his vast dynamic energy and his awe-inspiring power, Not one of them is missing. Astronomers are amazed that the universe is so ordered, it isn’t the result you get with an uncontrolled explosion as the big bang theory suggests without external help!
Day one;
2 Now the earth was formless and desolate, and there was darkness upon the surface of the watery deep, and God’s active force was moving about over the surface of the waters. 3 And God proceeded to say: “Let light come to be.” a first day. (see ‘yom‘)
The first so called day starts with a dark formless earth covered by deep water, no mention of any land and the atmosphere was probably very murky as there was darkness upon the surface of the watery deep. God’s active force was moving about over the surface of the waters and light came to be. So a combination of heat from the sun into the very murky atmosphere and action of God’s active force on the waters started to make a change take place, which is mentioned in the next creative day.
Day two;
6 And God went on to say: “Let an expanse come to be in between the waters and let a dividing occur between the waters and the waters.” 7 Then God went on to make the expanse and divided the waters beneath the expanse from the waters above the expanse. And it was so. 8 God called the expanse Heaven*. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.
* Hebrew; shamayim (shaw-mah’-yim); meaning to be lofty; 1 the sky , 2 the higher ether where the celestial bodies revolve
That change in the so called second day was to start the evaporation of a large quantity of water from the watery deep or seas up in to the thermosphere; waters above the expanse, the region of increasing temperature between 50 – 280 miles high, is that possible;
John C. Whitcomb, Jr., and Henry M. Morris, observes: “The region above about 80 miles is very hot, over 100° F and possibly rising to 3000° F, and is in fact called the thermosphere for this reason. High temperature, of course, is the chief requisite for retaining a large quantity of water vapor. Furthermore, it is known that water vapor is substantially lighter than air and most of the other gases making up the atmosphere. There is thus nothing physically impossible about the concept of a vast thermal vapor blanket once existing in the upper atmosphere.”
So again the bible is well within known science, of course this water vapour is not up in the thermosphere today, but more about that later and the evaporation would take a vast time maybe millions or billions of years, so long it could have continued into the fourth day. Today there are no waters above the expanse, which will be continued later.
Day three;
9 Then God said “Let the waters under the heavens be brought together into one place and let the dry land appear.” 10 God called the dry land Earth, but the collecting of the waters, he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. 11 God went on to say: “Let the earth cause grass** to shoot forth, vegetation bearing seed, fruit trees yielding fruit according to their kinds, the seed of which is in it, upon the earth.” And it came to be so. a third day. (**Hebrew; deshe’; a sprout)
On the so called third day the evaporation of watery deep had caused the water level to fall sufficiently enough for dry land to appear. As all the water was in one place then all the dry land another one place, but by the time the waters had receded and God called them Seas (plural) and called the dry land Earth (singular). So it would seem that by then dry land was eventually mostly in one large land mass Alfred Wegener‘s ‘Pangaea’, which is how the now separate continents started out in one place; Continental drift; On the basis of all these factors, it may be assumed that the Americas were joined with Europe and Africa until a rift split them apart. Encyclopaedia Britannica
Now with dry land green vegetation starts to grow possible first algae’s and mosses and then much later larger plants and trees. This would have taken a very long time, algae can grow on rock but larger plant life needs soil and that’s mostly organic remains, which takes a long time.
Day four;
14 “Let luminaries come to be 16 And God went on to make*** the two great luminaries, the greater luminary for dominating the day and the lesser luminary for dominating the night, and also the stars. 19 a fourth day.
*** Hebrew; ‘asah’ (aw-saw’); 1; to do, labour, bring forth, fulfil (wrought) 2; make; prepared
In the fourth so called day the sun and moon become visible possibly because the water evaporation had finally finished rising to the thermosphere through the 80 miles of troposphere, Stratosphere and mesosphere and/or the vegetation and trees had become established and cleared and purified the atmosphere which by the end of day four was breathable, so air breathing life could be created next.
Day five;
20 Then God said: “Let the waters swarm**** with living creatures, and let flying creatures fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.” 21 And God created the great sea creatures***** and all living creatures that move and swarm in the waters according to their kinds and every winged flying creature according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 With that God blessed them, saying: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the waters of the sea, and let the flying creatures become many in the earth.” 23…a fifth day:
****Swarm; Hebrew sherets (sheh’-rets); a swarm, i.e. active mass of minute animals; from; sharats (shaw-rats’); to wriggle, swarm or abound.
*****Sea creatures; Hebrew tan (tan); a monster (as preternaturally formed), huge marine animal, hideous land animal
In the fifth so called day God created the first creatures starting with swarms of minute creatures (although some of the smaller creatures may have be needed and created earlier for the plant life) to flying creatures, and even to monsters from the Hebrew word ‘tan‘ which the King James Bible called whales but means; huge marine animal or hideous land animal, preternaturally formed, which a very good description of dinosaurs. On the point of whales; when the Bible was first translated into English in 1530 whales were the largest mammals known to man and dinosaurs were not know of till the 1800s and much of it wasn’t translated directly from the Hebrew, but from Latin and I have no idea what the Latin word was or meant.
All these creatures were created according to there kind, it is a fact creatures from two different kinds or species can not interbreed. Added to that the acknowledgement that; the Hebrew Scriptures are quite harmonious with the creative day being millions or possibly billions of years long would allow a mast diversity of species to be created and multiply. Which perfectly fits in with statements about the fossil specimens, that have been found that are supposedly genealogical, but they are so far apart by millions of years this shows no signs of connections, again are not proof; “The intervals of time that separate the fossils are so huge that we cannot say anything definite about their possible connection through ancestry and descent.” zoologist Henry Gee says This clearly shows that the Darwin’s tree of life and the dictatorial statements from Dawkins that he is; “talking about the fact of evolution itself, a fact that is proved utterly beyond reasonable doubt.” Have yet again; been shown to be wrong again, false and not supported by the evidence. On the tree of life in general;
“Human evolution is like a giant jigsaw puzzle, we have lots of pieces, but we don’t know where the connections are, we don’t know where we start to see the trait or ideas move from one to the next and every new fossil gives us the potential for new bits of information!” Simon Underdown Senior Lecturer in Human Evolution, Oxford Brookes.
But which of these bipedal creatures on this jumbled family tree led to us remains one of the biggest mysteries in science. Narrator Mark Bazeley. The Two Million Year Old Boy 31/9/17
“We have no evidence at all that the tree of life is a reality.” evolutionary scientist Eric Bapteste
“The tree of life is being politely buried, we all know that. What’s less accepted is that our whole fundamental view of biology needs to change.” Evolutionary biologist Michael Rose – New Scientist magazine Jan 2009

Day six;
24 And God went on to say: “Let the earth put forth living souls according to their kinds, domestic animal and moving animal and wild beast of the earth according to its kind.” 25 And God proceeded to make the wild beast of the earth according to its kind and the domestic animal according to its kind and every moving animal of the ground according to its kind. And God got to see that [it was] good. 26 And God went on to say: “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness
26 Then God said: “Let us make man in our image” … 27 And God went on to create the man in his image, in God’s image he created him; male and female he created them. 28 Further, God blessed them, and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many, fill the earth and subdue it, and have in subjection the fish of the sea and the flying creatures of the heavens and every living creature that is moving on the earth.” 31 After that God saw everything he had made, and look! it was very good. a sixth day. NWT
Man was made in God’s image different from the animals; humans have qualities of conscience, love, compassion, language and intelligence, contemplating his past and future, etc. It is true animals display some of the qualities and attributes of humans, but this is very limited,
Ecc 3:11 Everything is appropriate in it’s own time’ but though God has planted eternity in the hearts of men, even so man cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to the end. The Living Bible
We’re talking about the complexity of life, what is life; what makes humans so different from animals, we may never know exactly, as the scripture states ‘man cannot see the whole scope of God’s work‘. The scripture also states; ‘God has planted eternity in the hearts of men‘ and man’s potential brain capacity far exceeds what he needs in his short life by a multitude, so why does he have such a large brain capacity and memory if not to live forever. Some Neuroscientists estimate that during an average life span, a person uses only 1/100 of 1 percent of his potential brain capacity.
When the Genesis account is studied and checked to the Hebrew and compared to the order and details of known actual scientific facts the Genesis account is amazingly outstanding, it’s unique, the advents are chronologically correct. It’s not a matter of nothing one day and the next day or six literal days everything is there it’s a slow methodical consecutive description of events. How this could have been written or completed in 1513 B.C.E., that’s 3,526 years ago without divine authorship, is impossible as the actual existence of the universe and everything in it without the Creator is. Compare it to other religious writings;
The Babylonian creation account; Tiamat sought revenge and tried to kill Ea, but instead she was killed by Ea’s son Marduk. Marduk split her [the goddess Tiamat] body in half, and from one half he made the sky and from the other half he made the earth.Then Marduk, with Ea’s aid, made mankind from the blood of another god, Kingu. Or
The Hindus; conceived that the earth [was flat] with water cascading over the sides, supported on the back of four elephants, the elephants stood on an enormous tortoise, the tortoise stood on an immense serpent, and the coiled serpent floated on universal waters.
Day seven;
Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth and everything in them were completed. 2 And by the seventh day, God had completed the work that he had been doing, and he began to rest on the seventh day from all his work. That seventh day of rest still continues today, over 6,000 years. (See; Length of Creative Days)
Creation
Man
Gen 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over….. 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them,”Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion….. 31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. NKJV
Gen 2: 4 indicates that chapter 1 was; “the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created“, but as Gen 1.26 above shows man was created towards the end of the Sixth day, so this is included in brief, then from Gen 2.7 up to chapter 5; we are told in more detail how He created Adam and Eve individually and then how God interacted with them, having said that the actual description of Adam’s creation is short and to the point. Gen 5.1 indicates that chapters 2 to 4 were “the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.” NKJV And this also includes the early life of Adam and Eve. The two accounts are criticized for being contradictory but when studied, they are not.
Gen 2:7 God formed* Man out of dirt from the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath** of life. The Man came alive — a living soul! THE MESSAGE *Hebrew; yatsar (yaw-tsar’); to mould into a form; especially as a potter **Hebrew; neshamah (nesh-aw-maw’); a puff, i.e. wind, vital breath, divine inspiration, intellect
I do like Gen 2:18-24; its where God says; 18 “It is not good for the man to be alone; I shall make a partner* suited** to him”
*Hebrew; neged (neh’-ghed); a counterpart, or mate.
**Hebrew; `ezer (ay’-zer); aid; from:`azar (aw-zar’); to surround, i.e. protect or aid.
And it’s where God lovingly gets Adam to appreciate the gift of a wife, by getting him to name all the animals by studying them, we know this as the meaning of their names fits their description or character and by doing this he notices they have mates but he doesn’t have a mate. So God takes a rib from Adam and makes Eve (Sceptics; It does amaze and amuse me how evolutionists skip over huge illogical gaps and impossibilities in their hypothesis, then expect the bible to explain every last thing. I know what will make you happy; a superior alien scientist sent his team of biologists and genome specialists with their mobile science laboratory spaceship, put Adam into a long term comatose state while cloning Eve in a test tube by reprocessing Adams DNA, then maturing her in a super state of the art incubator! Or I could just say I don’t know how He did it, as His ways are higher than our ways Isaiah 55:9, but it was God, He is that external help, that is required according to the second law of thermodynamics; entropy). Then; 23 And the man said; “This one at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh! She is to be called woman, because she was taken from Man.” 24 This is why a man leaves his father and mother and becomes attached* to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. New Jerusalem Bible or 23 “This is it,” Adam exclaimed “She is part of my own bone and flesh.” The Living Bible
*Hebrew; dabaq (daw-bak’); cling or adhere
This is just the start of how Jehovah instructs both the man and woman to show deep respect for each other, to build and strengthen their partnership. Christ confirmed and repeated the Geneses account at; Mt 19:5…a man will leave his father and his mother and will stick to his wife, and the two will be one flesh’ 6 So that they are no longer two, but one flesh. “they are no longer two individuals: they are one flesh” NEB
The following scriptures show that a husband should put his wife first in the relationship; Eph 5:28 So ought husbands to love their wives-to love them as their own bodies (he who loves his wife loves himself). 9 For no one hates his flesh; no, he nourishes and cherishes it (just as Christ does the church…) MOFFATT and;
Rom 5:8 while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. New American Bible
Eph 5:33 the husband must love his wife as his very self, and the wife must show reverence for her husband. Revised English Bible Also that wives even though they love their husbands, may sometimes find it difficult to accept the husbands decision or viewpoint, but must still have deep respect for him as her husband.
At; Gen 21:12 God tells the patriarch Abraham; “Don’t let it be grievous in your sight… In all that Sarah says to you, listen to her voice. WEB Showing a fine example of how husbands must treat their wives as equals, sharing in all things.
I’ve included all of this as it shows a God with the actions of a loving, caring father, and I will go on to show He is not a god loving war, of burning people in hell for eternity and not one who gives life then takes it away (to be continued), but talking of the husband and wife also reminds me that;
It’s puzzled me for many years how evolutionists can explain why we supposedly evolved as male and female and not asexual, it seems to go against the selfish genome and survival of the fittest ideology, not to mention increasing the improbability factor. Well turns out evolutionist can’t explain it; ‘It’s a real mystery‘ and ‘probably the biggest mystery in biology!‘ Well sorry Steve, but that’s not a surprise! It’s another one of those don’t know, but not God answers! So who mocked Adams rib, doesn’t look so bad now! Ockham’s razor; law of economy; The principle gives precedence to simplicity; of two competing theories, the simplest explanation of an entity is to be preferred. But of course the bible gives a simple explanation, where as evolutionist don’t give any at all, just It’s a real mystery, probably the biggest mystery in biology;
BBC 2 1/6 Dara O Briain’s science club 08/1/2012; Steve Jones states; ‘Sex it’s messy but it works … it’s an extremely inefficient mechanism because what it means is that women waste their time copying someone else’s genes. Why they do that is probably the biggest mystery in biology! It’s a real mystery. If life had been designed, if there had been a creator, we wouldn’t have sex. Anybody who designed that wouldn’t deserve a job!’ Professor of Genetics Steve Jones –University College London
Dear Steve Jones, of course it’s a mystery to an evolutionist, it’s illogical in the world of the selfish genome of evolution, and you are wrong that the Creator ‘would‘ ‘deserve a job‘ because He designed procreation that requires two, it’s not as you say ‘that women waste their time copying someone else’s genes‘, that this makes ‘it’s an extremely inefficient mechanism‘ it has a purpose, God always has a purpose, you just don’t know it yet! He would get a job; it’s very popular, sex is probably the biggest and oldest professions ever! That aside sexual contact fulfils an important part of marriage; in a loving marriage it’s part of what bonds and fulfils both man’s and woman’s physical, emotional and spiritual needs, which in turn is the central core for a quality strong family life, this gives children security and balance. That’s if scriptural principles are followed by all, but of course marriage was designed in a perfect world (don’t knock it that will be covered later). Civilizations have fallen when the family units have broken down.
“FAMILY is the oldest human institution. In many ways it is the most important. It is society’s most basic unit. Entire civilizations have survived or disappeared, depending on whether family life was strong or weak.” The World Book Encyclopaedia
“The most important source of happiness and well-being is neither career, things, hobbies nor friends but the family,” The Secret of Family Happiness
It’s one of the many concepts of creation that show that we are created; it’s something that goes beyond the cold bear bones of the evolutionary theory, it’s part of what gives life meaning, and fulfilment, making it real life, worth living.
If the genome was selfish it would be asexual; making all its offspring exact copies of itself and not allowing for any other genome to contaminate it’s superior makeup, but as we know there is a sharing or blending of the two to make a new unique genome, a new unique person, making billions of unique individuals, which does not fit the selfish Genome twaddle. It’s exactly how the creator wanted us to be separate individuals who were meant to be caring for others. Mat 7:12 All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you also must do to them. This, in fact, is what the Law and the Prophets mean. So may be I should write a book called the motherly genome (not that it’s just the mother), the caring giving sacrificial genome, or The Selfless Genome with sub line Dawkins wrong again!
The importance of the creation account and of Adam to a Christian
Some believe in God but also that it’s OK or logical to believe in evolution!
If there were no Adam, then there would have been no original sin, no original sin, so no need for Christ to come to take away Adamic sin, no Christ so no Jewish system which was to prepare for the Christ, no Christ no Christianity, also no bible! However; I hope what you have read clearly indicates to you that the bible’s creation account couldn’t have been written by just a man 3,500 years ago and be accurate today to the facts, while man is still stumbling around with conflicting illogical theories, and this is only part of what the bible and science has to offer as proof.
Heb 11:1…faith is a well-grounded assurance of that for which we hope, and a conviction of the reality of things which we do not see. Weymouth As we know many things exist that we can’t see.
If the evolution hypothesis of lower life into man were proved right and by that the genesis account were to be proved wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt, then I would accept it. If wrong I would still value many of the bibles principles. However every subject I have searched into and I continue to search has proved the bible correct. One of the problems is that even so called religious leaders have since the start been so wrapped up in church doctrines they don’t know their bibles and bibles are poorly translated, so generation after generation they have had no one to teach them to search and question, as God’s word tells them to;
1 Th 5:21 Test all things; hold fast what is good. NKJV
Prov 2:3 Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. 4… seek them like hidden treasures. NLT
Mat 24:45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant…to give them [spiritual] food in due season? NKJV
I hope this has been of interest and that you too wish to search as if for treasures the truth.
