The Trinity

God the Father,

God the Son,

God the Holy Ghost.

An unscriptural pagan doctrine

The central doctrine of most churches.

My comments in blue, Scriptures & quotes in black, references in green.

   The Doctrine

Supreme; – highest in authority or rank. / Greatest; – most important

The Doctrine’s formulation

The Council of Nicaea (It was called by the emperor Constantine I, an unbaptized catechumen (one being instructed who presided) in 325 AD stated the crucial formula for that doctrine in its confession that the Son is “of the same substance [homoousios] as the Father,” even though it said very little about the Holy Spirit. Over the next half century, Athanasius defended and refined the Nicene formula, and, by the end of the 4th century, under the leadership of Basil of Caesarea, Gregory of Nyssa, and Gregory of Nazianzus (the Cappadocian Fathers), the doctrine of the Trinity took substantially the form it has maintained ever sinceEncyclopaedia Britannica 2006

The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God, and yet there are not three Gods but one God.’ In this Trinity . . . the Persons are co-eternal and co-equalall alike are uncreated and omnipotent.” “A dogma so mysterious presupposes a Divine revelationThe Catholic Encyclopaedia

However

When it comes to “A dogma so mysterious presupposes a Divine revelation” this is totally in opposition to God’s word which clearly states there is no confusion with God, so there is NO MYSTERY:

1 Cor 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion. KJV Clearly identifying this dogma as false and pagan.

“The word Trinity is not found in the Bible . . . It did not find a place formally in the theology of the church till the 4th century.” “it is not a biblical doctrine in the sense any formulation of it can be found in the bible.” “nothing that would imperil the oneness of God (The Father) could be freely given.” The Illustrated Bible Dictionary –  A Protestant publication

In Christian doctrine, the unity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three persons in one Godhead. Neither the word Trinity nor the explicit doctrine appears in the New Testament, nor did Jesus and his followers intend to contradict the Shema in the Old Testament: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord”  De 6:4’    Encyclopaedia Britannica 2006

De 6:4 Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God [is] one Jehovah. YLT

Col 2:8 Beware lest any man cheat you by philosophy, and vain deceit; according to the tradition of men… and not according to Christ. Douay-Rheims the trinity is man’s tradition.

What does God’s Word the Bible say?

Well first we have a saying to get the truth get it; “Straight from the horse’ mouth”

(or ask them);

 Almighty God said of Himself

Is 45, 5 I am Jehovah and there is none else; besides me there is no God. American Standard Version Christ sits at God’s right hand as a god, but there is no comparison to Almighty God his God, his Creator. Jo 14; 28 “my Father is Greater  than I” and Col 1:15 …(Christ is) the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creationNWT, JB & NJB, ASV, YLT, WEB, RV, LE, NRSV, NIV& NRSV

Isa 40:5 The glory of Jehovah will certainly be revealed, and all flesh must see [it] together, for the very mouth of Jehovah has spoken [it].” 18 And to whom can YOU people liken God, and what likeness can YOU put alongside him? 25 “But to whom can YOU people liken me so that I should be made his equal?says the Holy One. NWT

Gen 17:1 Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said… I am God Almighty. ASV  Christ becomes or is promoted to Mighty God, by Jehovah The God Almighty (Isa 9:6 his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace7 The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this. ASV), but Christ is no where in Scripture called Almighty God and that is proved by interlinear bibles.

Mal 3:6 I am Jehovah; I have not changed. NWT    Some people say that God changed with Christ’s coming, well no it’s Christ who changed as Isa 9:6 above shows that he was deservedly given positions of authority; but we were told that; “The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this“!

Christ Jesus said of God

Jo 14; 28 “(my/the) Father is greater than IKJ & Douay  The New Catholic Bible 2007 states; “This seems to contradict the saying on the unity of the Father & the Son” What an admission by the church that concocted it!

Mark 10:18 Why me dost thou call good? no one [is] good except OneGodYLT

John 17:1,3 Fatheryou, The one and only true God, MESSAGE Christ always gave devotion to his Father, his God.

Mk 12; 29 Jesus replied…Jehovah our God is one Jehovah Emphatic Diaglott – Vatican Manuscript Compare; –KJ-Scofield Ref. Bible Here clearly Christ shows that Jehovah is as much his God as Jehovah is our God.

Note Jesus calls Jehovah his/My God while on earth; Mark 15:34 “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” NLT

Again he calls Jehovah my God after his death shortly before going to heaven; Joh 20:17 ‘I am ascending to my Father and YOUR Father and to my God and YOUR God.’”

Note especially even in heaven Christ sits at Gods powerful right hand (Luke 22:69 Hereafter the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God. NKJ) and he calls his Father Jehovah God; My God not just once, but four times for emphasis  Rev 3:12 He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name. NKJ

Christ states he worships his God The Father; Joh 4:22 we worship what we do know…worship the Father with…truth NIV He also states here we must worship in truth, so we should do so!

Almighty God said of Jesus

At his baptism & transfiguration;

Matt 3:17 And behold a voice from heaven, saying: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Douay-Rheims

Luke 9: 35 A voice out from the cloud saying; This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him. TNIV

Luke 9: 35 This is my Son, my Chosen One. NCB, NAB To call Christ his chosen One would suggest he was chosen out of a group of others, but who better than his first born, he is also called; only begotten Son.

1 Joh 4:9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. NIV… 1 John 4:9 God sent his only begotten Son into the worldKJV

Note especially in the above scripture that Christ was called God’s only begotten Son, or one and only Son before he came into the world.He sent his one and only Son into the worldthis clearly shows that before Christ came into the world he wasn’t part of Jehovah God as some kind of trinity, Christ was already Almighty God’s created Son even before earth.

Christ Jesus said of himself

John 10: 36 “I am the Son of God”    King James & Douay Christ never professed to be more than God’s Son, His first Son to be given awesome responsibility yes, but not God Himself.

John 6:38 I have come down from heaven not to do my will but the will of him that sent meTNIV

Mat 26:39 he fell facedown, praying: “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me. Yet, not as I will, but as you will.” NWT These 2 scriptures show he’s a different person, with his own will, and the later that he was begging face-down in prayer to His God, due to the terrible death that faced him, but he was faithful to that death.

Jo 4; 22 “YOU worship what YOU do not know; we worship what we know23 Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truthNWT  This clearly shows that Jesus is a subject of God that worships his God the Father.

The Holy Spirit said: Nothing!

When I first did this section about ten years ago which was in among a few hundred pages of notes in the front of my bible, I didn’t even think about the holy spirit the idea seems so alien to me, Christ is a person and a god, but the holy spirit, no! Well the holy spirit was the late comer, it took the holy roman empire or church another 56 years to add the idea of the holy spirit being a person and a god, a god equal to Christ and Almighty God, and by adding it to the godhead became the three in one god, known as the trinity. But logically as it’s supposed to be an equal part of the trinity it would have something to say on the subject! The answer is no, not a single word on the subject or on anything on any subject throughout the entire Word of God, which is strange as it is supposed to an equal.

Many things within the Word of God are spoken of as if having personality or even as alive as a person, that is not supposed to be taken literally; take Word of God itself; Heb 4:12 For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints from the marrow, and is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart. Sounds like a person it’s alive and here many bibles use the word “living” and it’s also able to “discern” things, but it’s not really alive, a living being, or a living entity of any kind.

What about the Apostles?

Well the apostle Paul stated; 1 Cor 8:5 For although there be that are called gods, either in heaven or on earth (for there be gods many, and lords many); 6 Yet to us there is but one God, the FatherDouay-Rheims

1 Cor 8:5-6 For even if there are so-called gods… (as there are many gods and many lords), 6 yet for us there is one God, the FatherNKJV

So clearly we too should have one God and only one God the Father. Some may say that Paul went on to say; (1 Cor 8:6) …and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live. Which is true, however this only emphasizes the difference between Almighty God The Father and Christ the son. The Father is God and the son is the lesser Lord, which things are not from but through.

So clearly the trinity doctrine is an addition added hundreds of years after the bible was inspired by Almighty God, it is not a biblical doctrine, the trinity is man’s tradition, and it is not in harmony with the Word of God it contradicts the supreme oneness of God the Father.

Do we need to go any further than the words of Christ and of his God The Father, from Paul and the absent of words of the Holy Spirit?

Well I will go on to cover every scripture that is said to prove the trinity.

One last Scripture 1 Cor 15:24-28; thinking of The New Catholic Bible 2007 (from the Catholic Truth Society) again an amazing admission on the trinity when it states of verse 28;this subordination will create difficulties in the developing theology of the trinity  The free flow of the non literal bibles are sometimes very accurate; the NLT rendering is explicit and concludes excellently to the point;

1 Cor 15:24 After that the end will come, when he will turn the Kingdom over to God the Father, having destroyed every ruler and authority and power. 25 For Christ must reign until he humbles all his enemies beneath his feet. 26 And the last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For the Scriptures say, God has put all things under his authority.” (Of course, when it says “all things are under his authority,” that does not include God himself, who gave Christ his authority.) 28 Then, when all things are under his authority, the Son will put himself under God’s authority, so that God, who gave his Son authority over all things, will be utterly supreme over everything everywhere.    NLT

And again in the MESSAGE a perfect ending indeed!

1 Cor 15:28 When everything and everyone is finally under God’s rule, the Son will step down, taking his place with everyone else, showing that God’s rule is absolutely comprehensivea perfect endingTHE MESSAGE

They the Catholic Truth Society were correct to point out that; “this subordination will create difficulties in the developing theology of the trinity” it completely destroys it! It’s the last nail in the coffin.

1 Cor 4:6 remember the maxim; “keep to what is written” (a slogan quoted by the Corinthians) The New Catholic Bible

When God’s Word states “keep to what is written” it clearly means to that which is written within its own pages The Bible and not from anywhere else, like the Catholic catechisms.

Scriptures thought to support the trinity;

1 John 5:7

 the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost:

and these three are one.

Probably the greatest abuse to the Word of God,

apart from removing God’s Name.

Newton wrote about this scripture and that corruptions must be purged;

newton 1 john 5 7

1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. KJV

The NKJV has kept the KJV corruptions as above, the Douay-Rheims is similar to above;

1 John 5:7 And there are three who give testimony in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. And these three are one. Douay-Rheims

The new Catholic Bible has however correctly removed them;

ncb 1 john 5 7

Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures 1 John 5; 7

greek 1 jphn 5 7

The original Greek text above clearly show that the words;

“the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one”

ARE ADDED and NOT THE WORD OF GOD.

The principal is the same as; Rev 22:18 If any man shall add to these things, God shall add unto him the plagues written in this book. Douay-Rheims

The scripture should be rendered;

1Jo 5: 7 For there are three that testify. NIV

1 Jo5:7 For there are three who testify. WEB

1 Jo 5:6 This is he that came by means of water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. And the spirit is that which is bearing witness, because the spirit is the truth. 7 For there are three witness bearers, 8 the spirit and the water and the blood, and the three are in agreement. NWT

John 1;1

the Word was God

In many bibles this scripture is a corruption in translation

from Greek to English making the word “god”; “God

and there is a huge difference between a god and The God;

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and

the Word was God. KJV

 The Interlinear Bible by Jay P. Green   1

 Hebrew-Greek-English with Strong’s Concordance

The following translation clearly demonstrates in the Greek the definite article (the) before the first the word “God”, but not before the second word “god”, however in both translations into English below and to the left-hand side it erroneously uses the capital letter “G” for god, making the Word “God”, and not as it should be “god”, when it can clearly be seen there is no definite article before it;

Inter Heb Gre Eng john 1 1

The following Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures shows the correct direct translation underneath.

2

The Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures

Kingdom Inter john 1 1b

Notice in verse 1 in the Greek the interlinears use of the definite article (the) before the word “word” all 3 times it is used making it; the “Word” with a capital “W” all 3 times, but only once is the definite article used before the first word “god” making it; “God” with a capital “G”, but the second word god has no definite article (the) before it making it “god”. This makes the Word a god, but not the God. However in the translation into English The Interlinear Bible by Jay P. Green 1 uses “God” with a capital “G” for both the  direct translation underneath and the King James version; both being incorrect. At least the following Emphatic Diaglott by Benjamin Wilson 3 has the direct translation underneath correct as; “a god”.

The following interlinear shows the correct translation into English underneath, but then incorrect to the right-hand side!

There are other Greek interlinears that show the same but even when the Greek is translated into Hebrew the definite article is missing!

 What do some translators and scholars say about John 1.1;

“Because [the apostle John] has no definite article in front of the·os′ (god) it becomes a description… John is not here identifying the Word with God. To put it very simply, he does not say that Jesus was God.” Bible translator William Barcley

“In Greek, if you leave of the article from theos in a sentence like the one in John 1:1c, then your readers will assume you mean ‘a god’… Its absence makes theos quite different than the definite ho theos as different as ‘a god’ is from ‘God’ in English.” [He] adds “In John 1:1, the Word is not the one-and-only God, but is a god, or divine being.”  Jason David BeDuhn

Response from some Trinitarians

When I use the term Trinitarians I am not referring to the vast majority of Christians that have this false teaching thrust upon them being told it’s a divine mystery and they are not supposedly to know the mystery that is God, but I am referring to those who try to justify or falsify this pagan belief as from Gods word. I once showed a young catholic girl from the bible who God is and who Jesus is, not mentioning the trinity and when asked at school is God a trinity or a monotheistic God; she was able to work it out for herself that He is a monotheistic God and scripturally prove it herself, so there is no excuse.

The comeback from some Trinitarians is still that God is a mystery and we are not supposed to understand the mysteries that is God and the trinity, but that idea is against and conflicting with scripture and God Himself;

1 Cor 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion*KJV

*Confusion; uncertainty about what is happening, intended, or required; situation of … disorder; the state of being bewildered; mistaking of one person or thing for another. English Oxford Dictionary

John 17:3 This is life eternal, that they might know** thee that only very God, and whom thou hast sent Jesus Christ. William Tyndale

** Greek; ginosko; to “know” (absolutely)

We have toknowabsolutely God or John 17:3 the only true God (KJV) to gain life eternal so He can’t be a mystery, well not to those who hear;

One might say then why is it that so many religions get it so wrong? Well the bible seems to be written in a way that can only be understood by those who want to hear and understand, which is the same way that Jesus spoke to people, as an example; Jesus was asked why do you talk in parables (a bit like riddles that needed further investigation);

Matt 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries* of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. 16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. 19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. KJV

* Greek; musterion; from a derivative of muo (to shut the mouth); a secret or “mystery”

So some things may seem to be mysteries or secrets to some who hear but don’t want to hear, but are heard and are understood by those who want to, so the secret is revealed and understood God is not a mystery and the trinity is seen for what it truly is a false doctrine. Reminds me of a studying vicar that I was having a conversation with while I was working some time ago, I didn’t have a bible with me, he had one at hand but didn’t use it. I thought this is too good an opportunity to miss, to find out first hand about the trinity, but to my amassment after I had quoted many scriptures from many translations; he said “can you/we change the subject because you know your bible too well“. Well I must say he’s a nice chap, but man of God, no.

On one occasion after showing a man scriptures he said “I know that’s what the bible states, but I believe this” which was totally opposite to the word of God.

On yet another occasion the comeback was “I don’t see why we should prove anything”, well that’s simple;

1 Thess 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. KJV

1 Thess 5:21 On the other hand, don’t be gullible. Check out everything, and keep only what’s good. 22 Throw out anything tainted with evil. THE MESSAGE

1 Tim 3:16

God was manifest in the flesh

This scripture is clearly speaking of Jesus Christ, but the Greek word ‘hos should be primarily translated ashehowever it has been incorrectly changed toGod‘, to quote Sir Isaac Newton he said the changes into Latin of this scripture was one of “the many abuses which the Roman church have put upon the world”, however although many English translations have this abuse in translation, both the Douay-Rheims and New Catholic Bible do not include it!

John 10: 33

You [Jesus] being a Man, make Yourself God

As with John 1.1 again there is an abuse in translation of the Greek word the·os′ (god), If there is no definite article ‘the’ in front of it then it should be rendered ‘a god‘ or ‘god‘ and not ‘God‘, and Almighty God would never be referred to as ‘a god’ or just ‘god’, that would be unthinkable.

This is also clearly seen by the context of the following two verses; Is it not written in your law: ‘I said you are gods?’ and ‘If he called them gods‘, why would Jesus speak of gods to the Jews if the Jews are accusing him of making himself to be The God? That’s not logical.

After Jesus said at; John 10: 30 I and the Father are one [which is covered later]. 31 The Jews then took up stones to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them: Many good works I have shewed you from my Father; for which of these works do you stone me?

33 The Jews answered him: For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, maketh thyself * God. Here in verse 33 as in verse 34 & 35a before the word ‘god’ there is no definite article. 34 Jesus answered them: Is it not written in your law: I said you are * gods? 35 If he called them * gods, to whom to word of ** God was spoken, and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Do you say of him whom the Father hath sanctified and sent into the world: Thou blasphemest, because I said, I am the Son of ** God? Herein verse 35b & 36 before the word ‘god’ there is the definite article and the correct rendering of ‘God’ is used. Douay-Rheims

john 10 33 with header

Clearly showing the rendering of the Greek word the·os′ as ‘a god’

The scripture should be rendered;

John 10:33 The Jews replied, ‘We are not going to stone you for any good deed, but for your blasphemy. You, a mere man, claim to be a god.’ NEB

John 10:33 The Jews replied, It is for no good work that we stone you, but for blasphemy, because you, a man, make yourself god. The Four Gospels – Charles Cutler Torrey

John 10: 33 The Jews answered him: “We are stoning you, not for a fine work, but for blasphemy; for you, although being a man, make yourself a god.” NWT

Jesus is a god

There are other scriptures that specify Jesus is ‘a god’ as with John 1.18, however many bible erroneously have changed the word ‘god’ into ‘Son’, some with footnotes showing the change and most that have used god with a capital ‘G’ but there is no definite article before it and because he is called begotten; as in a created god as in Col 1.15 ‘the firstborn of all creation’ [covered later] a lowercase ‘g’ should be used.

John 1:18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son*, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him. NKJV *Footnote reads;only begotten God

John 1:18 No one has seen God at any time. The one and only Son*, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has declared him. WEB    *footnote reads;God

John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him NASB

Joh 1:18 No man hath ever seen God; the only begotten God, he who is in the bosom of his Father, he hath declared [him]. Murdock

John 1:18 No one has ever seen God, not so much as a glimpse. This one-of-a-kind God-Expression, who exists at the very heart of the Father, has made him plain as day. MESSAGE

There has been a lot of abuse with this one on the part of bible translators trying many different ways to avoid the truth; obviously because it states that Jesus was and is ‘a god’ in heaven that was begotten; as in created as a god solely by The God.

John 1:18 No-one has ever seen God, but God the one and only, who is at the Father’s side, has made him Known. NIV footnote; or the only begotten – some manuscripts but the only (or only begotten) Son. But then they changed it in there newer version to; John 1:18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only [Son], who is himself God and is in the closest relationship with the Father, has made him known. TNIV

The Greek reads; John 1:18 Monogeneés [only begotten] Theós [god, as no definite article] ho [who] oón [is] eis [in] tón [the] kólpon [bosom] toú [who] Patrós [father] ekeínos [that one] exeegeésato [make known] Greek New Testament

The word; ‘monogeneés’ meaning;only-bornand is from; ‘monos’ meaning; ‘sole or single’ and ‘ginomai’ meaning;to cause to be (“gen”- erate)’ as in created.

Put together; Only begotten god, who is in the bosom who father that one make known

The scripture should read;

John 1:18 No man has seen God at any time; the only-begotten god who is at the Father’s side is the one who has explained Him. NWT

On a similar theme to John 10: 33 is;

John 5:18

Making Himself equal with God

Well who can be equal to Almighty God, which is exactly what He asked;

Isa 40: 12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, Measured heaven with a span… Weighed the mountains in scales… 18 To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to Him? 22 It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. 25 “To whom then will you liken Me, Or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One. 26 Lift up your eyes on high, And see who has created these things, NKJV

After Jesus healed a Man at the Pool of Bethesda, the Jews accuse Jesus of making Himself equal with God, because he said that God was His Father.

It is said by Trinitarians that Jesus’ enemies acknowledged he was equal to God, so we should too, which is a poor assumption remember; Matt 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. KJV It seems Trinitarians although; hearing they hear not and many things seem to them mysteries, when in fact they are secrets known only by those who want to hear and see.

Contrary to what Trinitarians say this idea of making himself equal to God did not come from Jesus. In any case Jesus clearly sets the issue straight in the next verse 19; when he states that; the Son can do nothing of Himself which shows that his power is from his Father and in no way is he equal to God, because Jesus continued; He [God] will show Him greater works than these. So a Christian should listen to Christ’ words and not those Jews who wished to kill him and did. Although they are; hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

John 5:18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God. 19 Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.  20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. NKJV

John 5:18 On this account, indeed, the Jews began seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath but he was also calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God. NWT

Calling God his own Father is not making himself equal to God; as his followers knew well; Matt 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. KJV The New Testament writers knew this well as shown by much of their work; Rom 15:6, 2 Cor 1:3, Eph 1:3 and 1 Pet 1:3 state that not only is God Jesus’ Father, but also God is Jesus’ God; the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When on earth Jesus said; Jo 14; 28 “(my/the) Father is greater than I” KJ & Douay

The New Catholic Bible 2007 states of the above; “This seems to contradict the saying on the unity of the Father & the Son” What an admission by the church that concocted it!

And later on in heaven when Jesus is triumphant over all God’s enemies he humbly steps down; 1 Cor 15: 28 Then, when all things are under his authority, the Son will put himself under God’s authorityso that Godwho gave his Son authority over all things, will be utterly supreme over everything everywhereNLT

The Catholic Truth Society point out in The New Catholic Bible 2007 that; this subordination will create difficulties in the developing theology of the trinity” yes it completely destroys it!

John 10:30

I and the Father are one

John 10:30 “I and My Father are one.” NKJV

John 10:30 I and the Father are one. Douay-Rheims – NWT

Is Christ saying that he is God? No because later on he stated to his followers; that they may be one, as we [he and his Father] also are (one), now in no way can a simple human be equal to God Isa. 40: 18 (quoted above) or be literally part of some kind of Godhead trinity.

John 17:11 that they may be one, as we also are. Douay-Rheims

Again Jesus said at John 17.22, that they may be one, as we also are one, but previously at the start of John 17.21 he said it differently; That they all may be one*, as thou, Father, in** me, and I in thee; that they also may be one in us…

John 17:21 That they all may be one*, as thou, Father, in** me, and I in thee; that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou hast given me, I have given to them; that they may be one, as we also are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me; that they may be made perfect in one: and the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast also loved me. Douay-Rheims

This difference shows the true meaning of the phrase; are one, where as the wordonecomes from the Greek word;heisand simply means; ‘one‘. The wordinisn’t so simple, it comes from the Greek wordenand means; a (fixed) position and (by implication) instrumentality, Instrumental means; serving as a means of pursuing an aim. That gives a sense of purpose to this union between Jesus and God, and further to Jesus’ followers. This is clearly displayed by the following translations;

John 17:21 My prayer for all of them is that they will be of one heart and mind, just as you and I are, Father-that just as you are in me and I am in you, so they will be in us, and the world will believe you sent me. The Living Bible

John 17:21 The goal is for all of them to become one heart and mind — Just as you, Father, are in me and I in you, So they might be one heart and mind with us. Then the world might believe that you, in fact, sent me. 22 The same glory you gave me, I gave them, So they’ll be as unified and together as we are — 23 I in them and you in me. Then they’ll be mature in this oneness, And give the godless world evidence That you’ve sent me and loved them In the same way you’ve loved me. THE MESSAGE

John 17:21 so that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in union with me and I am in union with you, that they also may be in union with us, so that the world may believe that you sent me. NWT

* One; Greek; heis (hice); (hen); a primary numeral; one:

** In; Greek; en (en); a (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality, i.e. a relation of rest; “in,” at, (up-) on, by, etc.:

Instrumental; serving as a means of pursuing an aim Oxford Eng. Dic

Union; the actionof uniting or being united; a state of harmony or agreement; a marriage; especially a trade union; From; Latin unus ‘one’ Oxford Eng. Dic

Unify; become united Oxford Eng. Dic

Unite; bring together for a common purpose; from Latin unit-, unire ‘join together’, from unus ‘oneOxford Eng. Dic

This clearly shows no suggestion of a Jesus being Almighty God or of a trinity, but simply the unity and oneness of heart and mind of Almighty God and his true worshipers; first His only begotten Son Jesus Christ and second those who accept Jesus as such;

John 4:22 [Jesus said] we worship what we know…23 …true worshippers will worship the Father with spirit and truth. NWT

John 20:31 But these have been written down so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and because of believing, you may have life by means of his name. NWT

John 8: 58

Before Abraham was, “I Am

John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I amKJV

If we were to take the words of Jesus above in English just as they are in the King James Bible and many other versions then it could appear to some that Jesus is saying he’s God? But if Jesus is saying he’s God what about Gabriel who said; Luke 1:19 I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God KJV

If Jesus is claiming he’s God by saying I am, then surly by Paul saying; I am what I am; is making his claim that he’s God with no doubt, God the Father, God the Paul, No No No….

1 Cor 15:10 [Paul] But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. KJV

The Greek words are;

I; Greek; ego (eg-o’); a primary pronoun of the first person I (only expressed when emphatic)

am; Greek; eimi (i-mee’); the first person singular present indicative; I exist (used only when emphatic)

what; Greek; hos (hos); he; who, which, what, that:

Gabriel’s I am is the same as Jesus’s from the Greek; egoóeimí, so in the Greek it’s; I – I am, and that’s different from Ex 3:14 I AM WHAT I AM, but Paul’s I am is just from the Greek; eimí then hos then eimí, in the Greek it’s; I am what I am. It’s closer but still even this is different to Ex 3:14 I AM WHAT I AM, as the Hebrew word ‘hayah’ is different to the Greek word ‘hos’ in that it has extra meaning ‘to become’ or ‘He Causes to Become’, this can be seen by verse 12 in the KJV the words; ‘Certainly I will be’ are from the Hebrew word ‘hayah’, which is also the basis of God’ name. Jehovah God was giving to Moses for the Jews a guarantee, a pledge that He certainly would prove to become or cause to become what ever was need for His chosen people to be free from oppression, to the Promised Land.

Ex 3:11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt? 12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain. 13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

The Hebrew words are;

Jehovah Hebrew; Yehovah (yeh-ho-vaw’); self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah

I AM; Hebrew; hayah (haw-yaw); to exist, i.e. be or become, come to pass

WHAT; Hebrew; ‘asher (ash-er’); who, which, what, that

When Jehovah said; Ex 6:3 but by my name Jehovah I was not known to them. ASV He wasn’t saying that they didn’t know God’s name Jehovah as there are many scriptures of people using it previously, the first one recorded is Eve at; Gen 4:1. I have produced a male child with the help of Jehovah, what He was saying is that they didn’t know or hadn’t seen the meaning of His name demonstrated to them as His people, the honour, authority, character of Jehovah God Himself, as He was about to show with His dealing with the Egyptians.

At Ex 6:3 the word ‘name’ is from the Hebrew word ‘shem’ can mean; as a mark… honour, authority, character

Hebrew; shem (shame); an appellation, as a mark… of individuality; by implication honour, authority, character

Ex 6:3And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. KJV

The context of John 8; 58 shows; Jesus is not claiming to be God, but says he’s the Son of man, who was in heaven before Abraham [and who returns to Heaven Dan 7:13].

John 8:23 I am from the realms above. YOU are from this world; 28 Therefore Jesus said: “When once YOU have lifted up the Son of man, then YOU will know that I am [he] (as KJ) The Jews should have known this… 47 He that is from God listens to the sayings of God. Showing he is separate being & lower even in heaven! 50 Jesus separates himself from God by saying “I honour my Father. 56 Jesus is talking of Abraham and how Abraham knew of Jesus’ day. “Abraham YOUR father rejoiced greatly in the prospect of seeing my day” 57; The Jews are questioning how could Abraham have known of Jesus by saying “Thou are not fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham” 58 Jesus is answering them according to the Greek; truly truly I tell you, before Abraham came into being I (emphatically), I existed’.

Daniel prophesised; Dan 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom KJV.

The above shows the Son of man [Jesus] who came to the Ancient of days [Almighty God Jehovah] clearly showing in heaven as separate person, parallels with;

Matt 26:64 Jesus saith unto him…Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. KJV

So Jesus was not saying I – I am to claim he is God.

 The context shows that these translations are truer to the Greek;

moffat I am

LB I am

  John 8:58 Jesus said to them: “Most truly I say to you, before Abraham came into existence, I have been.” NWT

Rev 1.8

I am the Alpha and the Omega,

the Beginning and the End

According to some translations these words are in red and supposed to be the words of Jesus! However there is nothing here to justify this false idea. The words ‘I am’ are covered above and although these are the words of Almighty God there is no indication that the words ‘I am’ are referring to His name or to Ex 3:14.

Rev 1:8 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, “says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. 11 saying, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” and, “What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches ….  NKJV

 First; the words; ‘the Beginning and the Endalthough they are in the KJV, NKJV, Young’s and Douay versions in verse 8 they are however not in the original Greek and also the words; ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last are in verse 11 in the KJV, NKJV and Young’s they too are not in the original Greek, so are fake. It doesn’t look good so far, so let’s take them out of the text by looking at with another bible version;

Rev 1:8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, “says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” WEB [World English Bible]

Second; where it says the word ‘Lord in most bibles it is written correctly with the word ‘God‘ as ‘Lord God‘ (as WEB above) that in its self should clarify that these words are spoken by our heavenly Father and not Jesus, and added to that the word ‘Lordshould have been translated as ‘Jehovah‘, which I know is a rarity in the New Testament in most bibles even those that use it in the Old Testament, but this is backed up by different sources one of which surprisingly is; The New Testament in Hebrew and English, by the Trinitarian bible Society as it uses the Tetragrammaton  here (and in many other scriptures) in the New Testament, showing these are clearly Jehovah’s words and His name should be printed and used in the New Testament;

  Read Hebrew right to left

Rev 1 8 +header

Amazing that, I am sure that they had no idea what they had printed, probably couldn’t understand Hebrew or thought that no one else could! I like it.

Third; the usage of the title ‘Almighty is only used for the Sovereign Lord Jehovah God, Jesus is referred to asMightyas inMighty Godat Isa 9:6 but never Almighty [note; at Isa 9:6 in the Hebrew where the word ‘God’ is used there is no definite article before it so technically it should be ‘god’, to be covered later]. Gen 17:1 Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am God Almighty. ASV

The scripture Rev 1:8 should be rendered;

Rev 1:8 “I am the Alʹpha and the O·meʹga,” says Jehovah God, “the One who is and who was and who is coming, the Almighty.” NWT
